LOOKING FOR A CAR FOR MY 17 YEAR OLD SON, HE IS REALLY KEEN ON A SUBARU WRX STI,WOULD THIS BE SUITABLE?

Of march your son will guarantee we a universe to get which car, though once he has a automobile bucket of friends egging him upon he will do something stupid. we consider we would be stupid to buy your 17yo son an STi. we have an STi and these cars have been not for immature kids to pushing upon open roads for a initial time. Maybe get him a not as big automobile initial and see if he can infer himself first. we dont wish to see your son as a statistic.

I’ve owned three Subarus: an older Impreza (chassis the WRX STI is based on) with the smaller, obsolete 2.2 litre engine, a 1996 Outback wagon with the 2.5 litre 4 cylinder, and a 2008 Outback wagon with the 2.5. The engines in these cars are probably the finest on the market today for longevity and value. Anyone who says otherwise has an agenda. I bought all three cars new. I’m still running the 1996 with 136,000 miles on it, and the engine performs as new.
The WRX STI has the 2.5 litre, 300 or 305 HP (depending on year), turbocharged engine. The car weighs about 3300 lbs. It won’t run newer Porsches or V8 BMWs off the road, but it is fast and is known as a strong street racer against the small, altered “tuner” Japanese coupes that kids love to run on U.S. roads today. Your seventeen year old will probably wind up doing this, and your insurance will be priced for it whether he does or not.
If he’s responsible, let him build-up his own tuner. It’ll take time, starting from an Accord or similar; he’ll have to work to get the money, and will be less likely to risk his own investment at high speeds; and he’ll learn a lot — about responsibility, the real cost of things, and about the mechanics of automobiles.

like others said, he’ll promise you the world to get the STi, but once he has it…his friends’ll egg him on to go fast in it. mine would.
i have a friend in atlanta w/ a white STi, he’s upper twenties, and he gets a few speeding tickets a year.
1) insurance’ll be a pain
2) if you get tickets, ins will go up
3) i hope he can handle the power

that is a street legal racecar!!! The sti is a very fast car and in my opinion much too much car for a 17 year old. I love the car but it’s alot of car to handle.
But he’s your kid, you should know what he can handle. Test drive the sti and see if it’s too much for him.
